Job Summary:

The purpose of this position is to assist the Neurodiagnostics Lab Manager in coordinating the activities of and promoting and maintaining quality services within the Neurodiagnostics Department (Sleep Lab). The Coordinator (Team Leader) will work with physicians and other Mary Washington Healthcare personnel to promote quality and expedient testing, ensure adherence to regulatory agencies, and implement educational programs and performance improvement processes. The Coordinator (Team Leader) will also be responsible for the orientation and training of Associates as well as validations of competencies and as ongoing clinical oversight of staff. The incumbent in this position will support the mission, vision, values and strategic initiatives of Mary Washington Healthcare and must demonstrate a commitment to quality service to patients, physicians, the public and co-workers.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities :

Performs all major duties and responsibilities outlined in the Neurodiagnostic Associate job descriptions and CBOTs (for Sleep Lab Technologists).

  • Coordinates the daily shift-to-shift activities and operations of the Sleep Lab to maintain the highest degree of clinical credibility, competency, and operational integrity.
  • Serves as principal liaison with physicians and clinical areas in matters related to neurodiagnostic (Sleep) services and functions as a facilitator between staff, physicians, and families to assist with complex cases and resolve difficulties and questions associated with specific patients or procedures.
  • Assists in the development, implementation, and evaluation of quality assurance and performance improvement opportunities to increase department and hospital effectiveness.
  • Assists with development and implementation of orientation, inservices and educational offerings to staff and Mary Washington Healthcare Associates to increase knowledge and develop professional skills.
  • Assists with patient education and community service projects.
  • Interfaces effectively with medical Director(s), Pulmonologists, and other Mary Washington Healthcare personnel to define the scope of services to be delivered as well as monitor the quality of services dispensed.
  • Works collaboratively with the Neurodiagnostic Lab Manager to construct and revise neurodiagnostic related procedures, standards, and protocols.
  • Assists with the evaluation of new equipment and current supplies and makes appropriate recommendations to the Neurodiagnostic Lab Manager.
  • Assists the Neurodiagnostic Lab Manager in the selection, evaluation, and counseling of staff to ensure effective performance and quality care.
  • Performs all other duties necessary to coordinate and maintain the activities of the department.
  • Perform other duties as designated by the Neurodiagnostic Lab Manager.

Job Requirements



  • Graduation from an approved AMA PSG Program required.
  • Minimum three (3) years of relevant clinical experience in all aspects of Neurodiagnostic testing (Sleep related) required.
  • Registered PSG Technologist (RPSGT) required. However, qualified individuals will be given two (2) years after appointment to obtain credential. Failure to comply within the specified time will be considered grounds for immediate dismissal - in lieu of extenuating circumstances.
  • History of excellent time and attendance (if applicable), exemplary interpersonal and communication skills required.
  • Leadership experience desired.
  • Successful completion of CBOT within 90-day probationary period.
