Job Summary:
Working
under the supervision of the Manager, the Neurodiagnostics Supervisor
is an advanced standing Registered EEG Technologist (R.EEGT) or
Registered Polysomnography Technologist (RPSGT) who functions as a front
line member of the Neurodiagnostics management team, and ensures that
staff at both MWH and SH perform accurate neurological and sleep
assessments and perform proper diagnostic and therapeutic interventions
for adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients with neurological and sleep
disorders.
The
Neurodiagnostics Supervisor is expected to have a higher knowledge,
skill and ability level than the majority of the clinical staff (R.EEGT,
RPSGT, CPSGT, RRT) and to routinely perform at that level. The
Neurodiagnostics Supervisor ensures that patient care meets departmental
standards for Neurodiagnostics Services (Epilepsy Monitoring Unit, EEG
and Sleep Labs.) The Neurodiagnostics Supervisor resolves problems and
strives to continuously improve the quality of patient care. The
Neurodiagnostics Supervisor will assist the Department Manager in
managing the overall operations of the EEG and Sleep Labs at both MWH
and SH as well as provide support to the physicians and clinical staff.
The Neurodiagnostics Supervisor serves as a professional role model,
leader and mentor to members of the healthcare team. The
Neurodiagnostics Supervisor must be able to make immediate decisions
with minimal supervision. Additionally, the Neurodiagnostics Supervisor
supports the mission, vision, values (ICARE), and strategic initiatives
of Mary Washington Healthcare and demonstrates a commitment of quality
service to our patients and their families, the community, the
physicians, and our Associates.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities :
- Responsible
for the shift-to-shift assignment of work and resources including
allocation of staff, equipment, assignments and scheduling.

Ensures
that neurological and sleep assessments and therapeutic and diagnostic
interventions and testing provided by clinical staff meet The American
Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) and The American Board of Registration
of ElectrŒncephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologist (ABRET) and
departmental standards.

Oversees scheduling and testing of patients to ensure smooth daily operations and quality services.

Demonstrates
clinical competency initially/annually as evidenced by completion of
initial/annual competency tools for Clinical Associates in
Neurodiagnostics (EEG and Sleep Labs.)

Facilitates the resolution of technical and staff issues/concerns.

Performs periodic performance evaluations of the quality of services provided by employees.

Implement new processes which continually improve the delivery of Neurodiagnostics services.

Works collaboratively with the Department Team Leaders, Physicians, and clinicians to manage the daily operations of the shift.

Assists
with the development, implementation, and monitoring of orientation,
CBOT, quality assurance, performance improvement initiatives,
inservicing, and educational training sessions of staff and MediCorp
Associates to increase knowledge and develop professional skills.

Performs leadership functions in support of departmental and organizational goals.

Utilizes
measurable outcomes and benchmarks to ensure operational efficiency,
service quality/accuracy, reporting timeliness, and cost effective
resource utilization.

Oversees and manages work schedules for the departments to ensure adequate staffing.

Consults
with the staff on any process, methodology, or equipment issues and
concerns. Assists the staff in resolving such issues in a timely manner.

Serves
as a role model by continually adhering to ICARE behavioral and
professional standards and holding staff accountable to the same
expectation/standard; empowers Associates to make decisions relevant to
their daily work responsibilities.

Evaluates and intervenes when encountering problems and works toward developing a resolution.

Coordinates and manages resolution of customer service and quality issues as per department/organization policy and standards.

Works
collaboratively with the Manager and with EEG and Sleep Lab Medical
Directors for Neurodiagnostics, conducts subject research, evaluates,
recommends, and implements new programs, services, technologies, and
operations tools.

Functions
as facilitator between physicians and families to assist with complex
cases and resolve difficulties and questions associated with testing and
care of the patient.

Assists with patient education and community service projects.

Maintains professional competency and educational growth.

Performs other related duties and responsibilities as requested.
Job Requirements
- Licensed
Registered EEG Technologist (R.EEGT) or Registered Polysomnography
Technologist (RPSGT) in good standing within the Commonwealth of
Virginia.

Associate Degree in Neurodiagnostics, Polysomnography, or Respiratory Therapy. Bachelors degree preferred.

Registered
EEG Technologist (R.EEGT) credential as provided by American Board of
Registration of ElectrŒncephalographic and Evoked Potential
Technologists or Registered Polysomnography Technologist (RPSGT)
credential as provided by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic
Technologists.

Certification required: American Heart Associate (AHA) BLS required.

Minimum 3 years clinical experience required.

Minimum
of 1 year experience in supervision or in a position that has
demonstrated increasing responsibilities in project or team management.
