Representing the largest number of responses in the history of the organization, the members voted in favor of the name change from the Association of Polysomnographic Technologists (APT) to the American Association of Sleep Technologists (AAST). The AAST membership also approved amendments to the Bylaws and Articles of Incorporation.
The new name will not only adequately represent the expanded mission of the organization and help us to be recognized as a primary organization for polysomnography by the medical community and by the public, but it will also better reflect the professional responsibilities of the sleep technologist.
Over the coming months additional information about transitioning from the AAST to the AAST will be published in A2Zzz Magazine, listed in the e-mail updates as well as posted on the Web site.
The AAST Board of Directors thanks members for providing their input and participating in this important process!
