Description

This case involves a patient who has a sleep study that shows both respiratory events and periodic limb movements. She also has no alpha rhythm. The definition of sleep onset in patients without alpha rhythm is reviewed.

The rules for scoring limb movements in association with respiratory events are discussed. The rules for scoring RERAs are discussed. Treatment strategies are discussed, as well as the debate regarding the significance of isolated PLMs without RLS symptoms.
