Dear AAST: What Membership Is Right for Me?
AAST is proud to launch its Dear AAST blog column. This column is aimed at answering questions our audience, particularly AAST members, have on all aspects of AAST – from membership and educational offerings to CECs and new product offerings. Be sure to check the blog often for the latest columns.Dear AAST,
I’m a sleep technologist and would like to join an organization in order to connect with other sleep professionals. I’d also like to be able to access educational materials so that I can maintain my credentials. I see on your website that AAST offers multiple membership options. Can you tell me which one is best for me?
Dear Seeking Membership,
We’re happy that you are considering joining AAST! You are correct in that we offer multiple membership options — Regular, Student and Group. Our memberships run on a calendar year basis (Jan. 1–Dec. 31) and grant you access to benefits such as free member CECs, exclusive resources and discounts on education products.
A breakdown of each membership type is as follows:
- Regular: A Regular Membership is for an individual whose primary employment is in the sleep medicine or technology profession. Price: $140
- Student: A Student Membership is for an individual who is enrolled in formal training programs for sleep technology. Price: $50
- Group: A Group Membership is designed for hospitals, sleep centers and organizations with multiple employees in the field and allows you to purchase a bundle of memberships on one invoice. Price: $140 per member (Membership fees are 10% off for groups of 10 or more.)
If you are individually looking to become a member and are no longer a student in training, we recommend the Regular Membership. If you are in a leadership position at a sleep center or hospital and are looking into membership options for yourself and potentially your staff, we recommend the Group Membership.
Additional information about an AAST membership, such as member benefits, can be found on our website. If you still have questions, feel free to email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or contact us by phone at (312) 321-5191.
