Maintaining Your Sleep Technologist Credential: Is it Time To Recertify?

Attending the AAST Spring Course can help you renew your sleep technologist credential

For many sleep technologists, 2016 has been a  busy year.  With recertification deadlines approaching, many sleep technologists wonder about the following: Where can I find my CEC transcript and where can I get last minute CECs?

The good news? The AAST makes it easy for sleep technologists to maintain their RPSGT and RRT credentials. Here's how:

The AAST Offers Domestic and International CEC Opportunities

All RPSGT and RST certification holders must recertify every five years in order to retain the use of the RPSGT or RST credential.  There are different ways to go about recertification: you can either earn 50 continuing education credits during the 5 year credential window or retake and pass the RPSGT or RST exam.  Most technologists renew their credential by accumulating 50 CECs over the five years they have to do so.

So what are some upcoming CEC opportunities in the U.S. that are worth checking out?

The AAST Spring Course on Risk Management in The Sleep Center offers 13 CECs

The AAST's upcoming spring course on Risk Management in the Sleep Center is coming up!

Where and when: The course is scheduled to be held March 11-12, 2016 at the Seelbach Hilton in Louisville, Kentucky.

Why you should attend: The course will provide lectures and hands-on interaction with a focus on preventing risk through appropriate policies and procedures; and patient interaction. And the speaker lineup and agenda will cover the hottest topics on risk management!

We've previously written about great team building and outing opportunities to check out in our article 5 Reasons Why You Should Be Excited About The AAST's Spring Course and our speaker biographies and other course information are available here.

For International sleep technologists

The AAST provides a list of U.S. based courses and CEC opportunities abroad, but the easiest way to maintain your credential is to take advantage of our library of online learning resources available here.

CEC Bundles offer multiple CECs for a discount!

The latest AAST learning resources include a bundled CEC package that features 3 learning modules on the topic of obesity hypoventilation syndrome.  The bundle offers a competitive discount for members and non-members who would normally pay more to get three CECs at once.

Have questions or concerns about recertifying?

Contact us at our number below this blog!  A coordinator will be happy to answer any questions you may have about the recertification process.  We hope to see you all in Louisville, Kentucky!
