The AAST Standards and Guidelines Committee, in association with the AAST Board of Directors, has developed a series of core competencies to ensure quality and consistency in the sleep technology profession. AAST encourages sleep centers and sleep technologists to use these competencies for education and evaluation purposes. Sleep technologists who satisfy all 11 core competencies meet the AAST's standards of professional knowledge.
