| The AAST Call for Volunteers and Director Nominations will open in January of 2014. In the weeks leading up to this event, the AAST Directors-at-Large will each be sharing their personal stories of what encouraged them to get involved in volunteering for this organization.
This week's Director Spotlight highlights David Wolfe, MSEd, RRT-SDS, RST, RPSGT. David has served on the AAST Board of Directors for nearly three years. Read David's story below!
As a sleep technologist and educator, I wanted to become more involved in sleep technology. Since I was already involved with a professional respiratory therapy society, I wanted to also join a professional sleep technology organization. Because it was some time ago, State Sleep Societies were not as common, so the obvious choice was the AAST. I became a member of the Educational Products Committee and, soon after, became the Vice Chair, then Chair of the committee. Deciding to change it up a bit, I became a member of the CEC Accreditation Committee until I was elected Director-at-Large. Fittingly, I was appointed Board Liaison of the Educational Products Committee. With all of the changes sleep technology has seen in the past few years, it is rewarding being exposed to colleagues from around the country with various experiences and expertise. I have enjoyed every position I have held with the AAST and will happily continue to serve the Board and members in the future.
