This month’s Journal Club is #39: Barcelona Sleepiness Index. This module provides a discussion of the development and validation of the Barcelona Sleep Index, a two-item test of daytime sleepiness. The construct of excessive daytime sleepiness is reviewed and methods of assessment are compared. Convergent and criterion validity are contrasted.
Our Case of the Month is #10: OSA with Features of Cheyne Stokes Breathing. In this module, the patient has complaints of insomnia, excessive daytime sleepiness and restless legs syndrome. A sleep study reveals he has OSA with features of Cheyne Stokes Breathing Pattern. The diagnosis and treatment of Cheyne Stokes breathing pattern is reviewed.
