2019 Annual Meeting
Our program committee, comprised of dedicated AAST volunteers, has put together an exciting program for our 2019 Annual Meeting September 6-8 in St. Louis, Missouri. This year’s program features a wide variety of topics from Telemedicine and the Mental-Dental connection to the Sleep Technologist’s Role in Promoting World Peace. I am particularly happy to report that an all day pre-conference intensive CCSH workshop will be held on Friday, September 6th. This workshop is sure to be popular as more technologists move into clinical roles, assisting with patient care and providing patient education. All technologists interested in expanding their skill sets in the clinical area should consider attending this event. The preliminary program is online, take a look at what we are offering and join us in St. Louis for some outstanding education, networking, and fun. I hope to see you there!
Education and Learning Tools
The third edition of Fundamentals of Sleep Technology was published on June 6, 2019. Information and a link to the publisher website are available on the AAST Education page. This is a greatly expanded version of the textbook, which is now 76 chapters, all updated with current information and practices, and it covers many new topics. I specifically want to thank all of the volunteers who worked so hard over the past two years to contribute or update chapters, serve as reviewers, and make this possible. There are numerous chapters that were influenced by the educational needs of CCSH credential holders and others providing patient education and working in clinical roles. I hope you will all find this a valuable reference and resource. In the meantime, those seeking additional CCSH educational resources should check out our CCSH Resource page!
Our new Career Center features open positions in the sleep community with 45 current listings and 35 employers looking to hire. This page also allows members seeking positions to upload their resume, and provides services for job seekers including resume writing and reference checking. Check it out!
