I invite you to join me for the AAST Spring Course, “Advances in Sleep Technology: The New Sleep Center Model.”  This course will be held at the National Office in Darien, IL (a suburb of Chicago) March 23-24.  The advanced registration deadline is Friday, February 22 – register early to save $40.

I know this is a scary and difficult time for individuals in our profession.  We have seen major changes with recent advances in technology related to the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders.  I want you to know that the AAST is prepared to guide you through this transition and equip you with the necessary tools to remain vital members of the sleep center.  I will continue to send this message of support for our members, our organization, and our profession.

During my time as AAST President, I have made it a personal goal of mine to offer educational opportunities to prepare individuals to anticipate changes and be proactive members in the field. The AAST Spring Course is relevant to sleep technologists and center managers seeking to implement out of center sleep testing (OCST) and develop innovative programs to keep your sleep centers on the cutting edge of sleep medicine.

Expert faculty led by Course Chair Shalanda Mitchell, RST, RPSGT, will be providing up-to-the-minute details on OCST, including:

  • The evolving role of the sleep technologist
  • Technologies for OCST and equipment updates
  • Insurance perspectives on sleep apnea diagnosis and treatment
  • Methods for improving patient retention and long-term adherence to treatment
  • Evaluation of pre-certification strategies
  • The growth of pediatric care
  • Discrimination among available social media opportunities

Whether you are looking to start an OCST program, improve your current program, or educate yourself on the general shifting of the field, the Advances in Sleep Technology: The New Sleep Center Model course is for you.  You can review an in-depth course outline and get complete information about the course on the AAST website.

Attending this course will keep you on the cutting edge of sleep technology and will give you the opportunity to earn up to 12.50 AAST CECsEarly registration is February 22, 2013! Don’t delay. Sign up now.

I hope you will join me next month at the Advances in Sleep Technology: The New Sleep Center Model course.
