Registration for the AAST's 2016 Fall Course, The Sleep Technologist Fundamentals Course is open.

During this two-day course (10/7/16 - 10/8/2016)  an expert faculty will present a comprehensive review of the basics of polysomnography, including a review of sleep stages and sleep related events, recording procedures and instrumentation, appropriate therapeutic interventions, and strategies for exam success.

This course is perfect for sleep technologists and technicians who are preparing for a credentialing examination as well as for practicing technologists who want to brush up on the fundamentals.

 Upon completion of the course, attendees will be able to:  

  • Explain the basics of polysomnography.
  • Recognize strategies to succeed in credentialing examinations.
  • Discuss recording procedures and instrumentation.
  • Identify sleep stages and sleep-related events.
  • Determine appropriate therapeutic interventions.
  • Evaluate safety considerations.

The registration fee is $275 for AAST members and $315 for non members.

The AAST has reserved a block of guest rooms at the Wyndham Cleveland at Playhouse Square at 1260 Euclid Ave, Cleveland, OH 44115.

Guests attending the course will be able to take advantage of the  discounted group rate of $119/night plus taxes.

Transportation from the Airport

The airport nearest to the Wyndham Cleveland at Playhouse Square is Cleveland Hopkins International Airport (CLE).  Cleveland Hopkins International Airport is approximately a 15 minute drive from the Wyndham Cleveland at Playhouse Square.


Meals provided by the AAST are available for registered attendees only.  Guests of attendees will not be accommodated during meal functions.  Attendees are responsible for their own dinner.

Electronic Course Materials

The AAST will provide course materials only in an electronic format.  Prior to the course, attendees will be allowed to download and, if preferred, print course materials.

Please note: The AAST will not supply computers or tablets to view the materials or power for computers or tablets.  For attendees wishing to view the course materials on their laptops or tablets, it is imperative that attendees have them sufficiently powered prior to arrival at the course each day.

Continuing Education Credits

The American Association of Sleep Technologists has approved the continuing education credits (CECs); an application has been submitted to the American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC) for Continuing Respiratory Care Education (CRCE) contact hours for respiratory therapists.

All participants requesting AAST CECs or AARC CRCE credits must return the credit claim form included with the registration materials to the AAST information desk upon completion of the course.  An AAST representative will be available to address any questions or concerns during the course. 

Credit letters will be emailed by the AAST approximately four to six weeks following the course.
