Meet our speaker and AAST Past President Jon Atkinson, BS, RPSGT


Get to know Jon, BS, RPSGT

Jon Atkinson started his sleep technologist career in 1981 and became board certified in 1983.

He has served on the AAST board of directors as Director at Large from 1994-1996 and 2000-2006, President-elect 2006-2007, President 2007-2009, and Immediate Past President from 2009-2010.

He also served as membership chair from 1997-2000 and as A2Zzz editor in 2007 and 2009-2010.  Jon has authored chapters in several sleep and sleep technology texts and written numerous articles in A2Zzz on cardiac arrhythmias.  He has spoken at numerous local, regional, and national meetings and has taught A-Step programs and technologist and physician review courses.

He was a recipient of the Weitzman award in 2003 and the McGregor award in 2009.

Course Objectives

  • Review cardiac anatomy and physiology.

  • Recognize normal waveforms.

  • Recognize abnormal activity (life threatening rhythms, non-life threatening rhythms).
