CPAP Helps “Stop the Snore,” Repairs Brain Damage Caused by Sleep Apnea

A study in the September issue of the journal SLEEP shows that one year of CPAP therapy reversed the white matter damage caused by severe obstructive sleep apnea. Treatment also produced significant improvements in cognition, mood, alertness and quality of life.

A key warning sign for obstructive sleep apnea is snoring, cautions the National Healthy Sleep Awareness Project. The AAST, CDC and other project partners urge you to pledge now to " Stop the Snore" and help spread the word about the warning signs for sleep apnea.
