As the new year is now well underway, I want to share a number of new and exciting initiatives AAST has underway to enhance and grow the educational opportunities we offer. From new educational product launches to a new webinar series brought to you by the AAST Education Advisory Committee, we are committed to the continued professional development of our members.
AAST Webinar Series
In February we launched the AAST Webinar Series. Hosted by the AAST Education Advisory Committee and industry partners, these webinars are aimed at providing in-depth discussions and presentations on a range of sleep topics such as the treatment of obstructive sleep apnea, the role of the sleep technologist in sleep medicine, mask impact on positive airway pressure (PAP) effectiveness and more. All of the webinars are free to AAST members and include CECs, and members also receive complimentary access to recordings of these live presentations for 30 days following the release of the recording.
In February we also launched two new eBooks: “A Technologist’s Guide to Preforming Sleep Studies” and the “AAST Advanced Sleep Titration eWorkbook.” Both books are available in the AAST Learning Center for purchase.
A Technologist’s Guide to Performing Sleep Studies
Designed to be an introductory resource, this eBook provides step-by-step instructions for performing polysomnography and includes in-depth sections that cover topics such as how to put the patient at ease, reviewing a patient’s symptoms and medications, attaching sensors, preparing to record and much more.
AAST Advanced Sleep Titration eWorkbook
This eWorkbook is a companion piece to the AAST Advanced Sleep Titration e-Learning Course. The 126-page eBook assists sleep health professionals to gain a thorough understanding of cardiorespiratory anatomy and physiology, as well as assists them in developing advanced PAP titration skills.
As we look ahead to the spring and summer, I’m happy to say that more educational offerings and opportunities will be launching including new webinars, learning modules and eBooks. Be sure to check the AAST website – including the Learning Center – frequently for the latest offerings.
